Tonight in Corby’s Coronation Patk the lighting of the Beacon in celebration of the Queens Platinum Jubilee took place at 9pm on Thursday evening.

There ceremony was offially opened by Cllr. Anthony Dade who in his position as Platinum Jubilee and Corby Pole Fair the town Cryer opened the evenings events.
Then there was a rendition of the Carpenters “Top of the World” and the New Seekers I’d like to Teach the World to Sing ” by ĺocal choir ‘Chordless Corby’ and this ended with a rendition of “Imagine” by John Lennon.
This was followed by a rendition of by piper “Dui Ragnare” a Scottish ballad played on the bagpipes. Then “Majesty” a song played on cornet by Lyneete Ballentyne

The lighting of the beacon was at 9.45pm by Corby’s new Major Cllr. Chikota.
Later on in the evening there was a closing rendition of a specially performed Jubilee song called “A Song for the Commonwealth” performed by Beanfield Community school.
