EQUATORIAL GUINEA : WOMAN’S DETENTION “GROSS ABUSE” OF HER HUMAN RIGHTS


Amnesty International’s Director referring to the detention of a woman in a prison cell with up to 100 men called it a ‘gross abuse of her rights’.
 
Brígida Asongsua Elo, arrested in Malabo, the capital city of Equatorial Guinea was not given an explanation for her detention, nor brought before a judge. The cell she is sharing is believed to be with between 70 to 100 male detainees, it has no sanitation or privacy.
